English is spoken with an island lilt and a number of highly descriptive expressions. 

How many casinos are on this Island? 
There is currently only one casino on Grand Bahama Island, the Casino at Bahamia, part of the Resort at Bahamia. The casino at Our Lucaya Resort is scheduled for a summer opening.   

Which Grand Bahama Hotels are on the beach? 
Coral Beach Hotel, Old Bahama Bay, Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort, The Ritz Beach Resort, Viva Fortuna (all-inclusive) and Xanadu Beach Resort and Marina. 

Can foreigners buy real estate in Grand Bahama Island? 
Yes, and there are numerous real estate agencies on Grand Bahama Island. 

Do you have any colleges in The Bahamas? 
The College of the Bahamas has campuses in Nassau and Freeport.

It is not illegal for tourists to sport fish in the Bahamas, but the rule is catch and release.

No, camping is not allowed on Grand Bahama Island.

Is nude sunbathing allowed?  
No, nude sunbathing is not allowed in Grand Bahama Island.

Where can a visitor purchase phone cards?  
Phone cards can be purchased from the following Bahamas Telecommunications Corporation (BATELCO) locations: The Seahorse Shopping Center in Lucaya, the Freeport International Airport and the main Batelco office in the Kipling Building downtown.  

How many hospitals do you have?  
Grand Bahama Island has one hospital called the Rand Memorial Hospital, which is operated by the government. It is located in the heart of downtown Freeport. The hospital can be contacted at 242-352-6735. There are also three private clinics and numerous government clinics.
