To ensure that there is sufficient time to make all of the necessary preparations, contact the agents two to three months in advance.

Procedures for Self-Arrangements

Contact the Registry Office on Bonaire requesting (a) permission to marry on Bonaire, and (b) a temporary residence permit. (Either the bride or the groom must be a resident on island for a week prior to the wedding day.) Ask your wedding coordinator for details. Please start this process at least two months in advance. Some of the items required will include the following:

• Two passport photos of the bride and the groom
• A copy of the bride's and the groom's passports first page (signature and photo page)
• A copy of the bride's and groom's certified birth certificates
• Proof of eligibility to marry (from an Official Government Department, stating that you are single. If divorced, copies of the divorce papers are required).
  

Prior to your arrival on Bonaire, confirm that everything has been processed by the Governor's office. Upon arrival, pick up your temporary residency permit at the immigration department and register at the Registrar's office using your permit. Inform that office of your wedding date. You will be able to purchase your marriage certificate there.
