The garden planners at Harbour Village are experts at combining local flora with not-so-common species from the U.S. and Venezuela. The commingling of Bonaire's indigenous plantings with new varieties blankets the resort with a magical sense of beauty and peacefulness.
Many of the thriving species of plant life found at Harbour Village were hand-chosen abroad, and shipped directly to Harbour Village, including the majestic coconut trees which now adorn the resort's entrance path. To illustrate the lengths to which the groundskeeping staff will to go for beauty, consider that all 60 coconut trees were shipped from Venezuela to Bonaire on an open barge and lifted to their new positions by crane.

Marizay Poggi carefully chooses plants that will thrive
in Bonaire's climate. You'll see Pandanus from Florida, mixing gracefully
with the purple flowered Geiger tree, a native of Bonaire. You'll find
colorful bougainvilleas, firecracker 
plants, dwarf scheffleras and some of Bonaire's most distinctive indigenous
trees.Among the trees, you can glimpse and hear the lively presence
of local birds like the bananaquit and parrot.
Harbour Village's lush flora thrives in the island's arid climate because of a revolutionary and environmentally-friendly irrigation system. The system, first initiated on the island by Harbour Village, relies on a self-contained water recycling plant. 95% of the water pumped into Harbour Village is treated and recycled back into the resort's irrigation system, resulting in the beautiful year-round greenery that has become a hallmark of the Harbour Village experience.
