KPMG Peat Marwick is one of the largest and oldest firms of chartered accountants in The Bahamas. The predecessor firm of Peat Marwick was established in Nassau in 1954, and the Freeport office was opened in 1962.

The firm has eight partners and a staff of over 60. All members of our professional staff have diverse experience obtained from training and practice in The Bahamas, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries.

Our clients include a wide variety of industries, ranging from banking, trusts, finance, mutual funds and insurance to construction, wholesaling, retailing, manufacturing, real estate and hospitality.

We also have an Information Technology Group in Nassau, whose members are trained in systems design, implementation and programming. Through an alliance with Data Systems International, KPMG provides systems support services to banks and trust companies operating the International Private Banking Services (IPBS) system.

Through our international affiliation with Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG), we have close relationships with the many KPMG offices throughout the world. This affiliation provides us with access to the expertise of some 70,000 personnel operating from 1,053 offices in 131 countries.

Our Partners

Michael H. Fielder

Michael Fielder is the Managing Partner of The Bahamas practice. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and has over 30 years experience in the profession. His work has included virtually the full spectrum of business in The Bahamas, with considerable emphasis on the offshore financial centre and other financial and commercial institutions with international ramifications.

Gregory P. Cleare

Gregory Cleare is a Certified Public Accountant and has over 14 years experience with KPMG Peat Marwick in Atlanta, Georgia, and Nassau. His responsibilities have included a wide range of businesses with emphasis on banking and trust companies, mutual funds and insurance companies. He has assisted a number of clients with the license applications for both banks and insurance companies. He also has considerable corporate finance experience relating to public and private share offerings.

David P. Hamilton

David Hamilton is the partner-in-charge of the Freeport office. He is a fellow of the ICAEW and has been in the accounting profession for 30 years. His experience incorporates a wide range of entities from small businesses to large international companies, including the hospitality industry, financial institutions and manufacturing and retail businesses. He has substantial liquidation experience and is a member of the KPMG International Insolvency Committee and the UK Society of Practitioners of Insolvency.

Tracy E. Knowles

Tracy Knowles is a member of the ICAEW and has over 20 years experience obtained in the U.K and The Bahamas. Specific responsibility has included utility companies, retail and wholesale operators, financial institutions, investment companies, government departments, hospitality companies, manufacturers and real estate developers.

Lambert D. Longley

Lambert Longley is a Certified Public accountant and has over 13 years experience with KPMG Peat Marwick in Houston, Texas, and Nassau. He has experience with a wide range of industries, including trust and banking, government institutions, mutual funds and local businesses. He also has considerable experience with the use of microcomputers in auditing applications.

John Lopez

Kendal C. Munnings

Kendal Munnings is a member of the ICAEW and has over 25 years experience with major public accounting firms in London, Nassau and Toronto. His responsibilities have included audits of offshore banks and trust companies, central and development banks, other government corporations, mutual funds and other entities, and liquidations of various enterprises.

Alison J. Treco

Alison Treco is a member of the ICAEW and has 16 years of experience with KPMG Peat Marwick in London and Nassau. Her experience includes audits of financial institutions, mutual funds and local businesses, as well as the preparation of complex consolidations, feasibility studies and liquidations.
