Hi Dave
There are very few beach hotels in St. Kitts, and none that will fit your budget. The Frigate Bay Beach Hotel may have a single for around $l00, and you may get a kitchen in the deal. This would not be a view room, but perfectly adequate all the same. The hotel is walking distance to the beach (and a couple bars), has it's own pool bar, a gorgeous pool and live music a couple nights a week. The restaurant is o.k. but pricey. From there you would have to rely on taxi transportation to town or to trailheads, and there's not many hikes on St. Kitts you should undertake on your own. As an option, Basseterre has a few inexpensive guest houses, but they are not close to the beach. Also consider Sea Spawn In Nevis, midway between town and the beach. No bar, but easy walking to many in the area and with a "shared" kitchen with other guests where you can fry an egg or heat up soup. Nevis has awesome hiking, but again, you shouldn't set off unaccompanied. The tourist office in Charlestown can suggest guides for you.
