The Marriott was wonderful. I'm sure everything will be open by Feb 2004 so you won't have to worry about that. While I was there, Calypso Cafe, Bohemia Bar, and La Cucina were open. We ate breakfast every morning at Calypso b/c it was convenient. It was about $15 per buffet or $11 if you just want the cereal/fruit/bread buffet. You can also order a la cart. Food was good. It all adds up though. One morning we all had the $15 buffet and our bill was $70 just for breakfast!! (for 4 people) La cucina is the italian restaurant, good food but very short menu.. not recommended for kids at all! bohemia is great. its a swim up bar in the pool. happy hour is 4-6 and frozen drinks are 2 for 1.
the service was OK. not like american service but the wait staff is MUCH friendlier.. they are nice and not just for money. Everyone is SO nice.. they are just so caring. they dont know the word hurry so plan alot of time in restaurants. its relaxing but sometimes frustrating. i forgot to mention in my other post the Garden Restaurant at Frigate Bay Resort... definately eat there also.
Our room was very nice. We had two, one for me and my sister and another for my parents. We stayed in one of those buildings outside the main hotel. It was nice except we were on the 3rd floor with no elevator, but hey we could use the excercise. My parents had a balcony with a beautiful view of the ocean. We had a window with a view of the building next to us :( thats alright, we didn't spend much time in the room anyway.
the pool was absolutely wonderful. we only swam in the main pool where most people were. If you want to be alone, try the north or south pool. They do not have the waitresses though. The chairs at the main pool have flags to raise if you would like something to eat or drink. I felt like a celebrity.
I'm sure the marriott will be working smoothly by Feb 2004. Its not ALWAYS cloudy there.. well I guess not. I dont live there though. It was cloudy from wed-fri while i was there. and windy too. it was depressing but the weather got better by saturday. I hope you have a wonderful trip. any other questions? post :)
