You should have a great time. The views of the bay from the rooms can be awesome especially when the cruise ships come in. Sometimes they take up the whole view depending on the cruise line. I hope they are still running at that time of year.
Our experiences in the hotel restaurant are quite good. Service is slow by US standards, but that is a common thing in the islands. Don't mistake it for inattentiveness or lack of concern. Fisherman's Wharf gets mixed reviews. Our meals were adequate and reasonably priced.
The Rock Pool (name?) is a lot of fun and the swim-up bar should be open. You can get drinks, sandwiches, and most lunch items right there. The hot tub is just that, HOTTTTT! Dip your toe in before entering.
The manager's cocktail party is a chance to meet the other guests. Check it out. The Friday night entertainment is/was outstanding as well as a solo guitar player they have occasionally for dinner music. Check to make sure if the Coronets (sp?) Steel Orchestra is there. While not very authentic, they are quite good (I'm a HS Band Director and they pass my test) and play a wide variety of music.
Although we rented a car, you don't have to have one. Downtown Basseterre is walkable. Shuttles to Turtle Beach are available. Tours are available and the desk will book them for you if you ask.
Don't miss the Batique, Brimstone Hill, and the South Peninsula, as well as the restaurants in the Frigate Bay area.
Lots to choose from. You may do as little or as much as you want.
