Re: FDG - reasons to glorify

Having just returned from the Marriott, I thought I would throw my 2 cents in.....I was only there for 4 days but I spent more money and time outside the Marriott - dinners, taxis, bars, etc. The only negative I saw was for the retiree (from the states) that lives in a condo next to the Marriott (now built to his property line), and even he didn't complain. The Marriott has hired throngs of Kittians and the lovely taxi drivers I was fortunate enough to meet were very pleased with the extra business. Enough said.

Now - to glorify indeed:
The Marriott, while it does stick out a bit like a sore thumb, in my opinion is a beautiful property. I don't need to go on about this because the pictures at royalbeachcasino.net speak for themselves and are a perfect depiction. They do not show the rooms, but they are wonderfully appointed and large - I couldn't have been happier with the room.

For those of you venturing there soon, PLEASE keep in mind that most of you are going on fabulous promotional rates. For the most part the service was wonderful, but when I slip-up occurs, be PATIENT, you are not paying 5 star prices yet. What I initially percieved as a bit of standoffish attitude, was in fact a bit of shyness from the Kittian people. Be pleasant, joke a little, and get them to smile, it is rewarding. Having had the fortune of meeting one of the front desk mangers away from the resort, I learned how overwhelming it is right now. During the interview stages, some employees held onto the walls of the elevator because they had never seen one before and were afraid! They are learning and trying, and in my opinion the service is very good.

For the locals who read this, I see why you are so proud, your island is lovely, and I can't wait to return!
