CURTAIN BLUFF ANNOUNCES NEW DEVELOPMENTS, ACCOLADES FOR 2003/2004 SEASON

*Top 10 Reasons To Sell This Caribbean Classic*

St. John’s, Antigua (May 1, 2003) – After two years of renovations and improvements at Curtain Bluff in Antigua, it is clear that there is renewed excitement and interest in this Caribbean classic that has been a favorite of travel agents and their clients for over 40 years. Resort improvements, membership in Virtuoso, an extended season and the announcement of full commissions are just some of the news announced to travel agents today by Rob Sherman, managing director of Curtain Bluff. Here are the top 10 reasons you should be selling Curtain Bluff this year:
     1. Beginning with the 2003/2004 season, Curtain Bluff will offer full commissions to travel agents on its all-inclusive pricing. (Previously, only the room rate was commissionable.) As both rates and occupancies are holding steady, this means more profit for travel agents booking the resort in the future.
     2. As of fall 2002, Curtain Bluff is a member of Virtuoso, the most prestigious label in the travel industry. Agents can expect to hear about special promotions in the near future.
     3. In the past year, Curtain Bluff has received accolades from the top two travel magazines in the US: Travel + Leisure praised Curtain Bluff as having one of the best beaches in the Caribbean (December 2002) and readers of Condé Nast Traveler rated Curtain Bluff one of the top 10 resorts in the Caribbean (November 2002).
     4. To better accommodate families and honeymooners, Curtain Bluff is extending its season to July 24, 2004 (prior closing was in May).
     5. Curtain Bluff has just announced a new partnership with the preferred tour operator Classic Custom Vacations.
     6. For those seeking the ultimate in luxury, Curtain Bluff recently unveiled the new Morris Bay and Grace Bay suites, each with 1,900 square-feet of living space lavish in décor and rich in foliage. The suites have an oversized bedroom and separate living room that looks out onto a large terrace with a private Jacuzzi and sweeping views of the Caribbean. This is in addition to the 40 new Junior Suites that were built in the past two years, replacing some of the deluxe rooms.
     7. Owner Howard Hulford has tripled the size of the wine cellar which, as agents know, is one of the most highly-rated cellars in the Caribbean. It features more than 25,000 bottles of wine, all hand-selected by owner Howard Hulford.
     8. Due to increased demand from its family clientele, Curtain Bluff now offers a children’s program to accommodate families during spring breaks and holiday times.
     9. Curtain Bluff will once again play host to two of the region’s top sporting events: Antigua Sailing Week and Antigua Tennis Week in spring 2004.
     10. The all-inclusive pricing makes this one of the best values in a luxury vacation – one of the reasons for the resort’s 60% repeat guest ratio and its high rate of customer satisfaction year after year.
Curtain Bluff is located on 20 lushly landscaped acres on the south coast of Antigua. It is one of the few five-star luxury resorts to offer comprehensive (i.e. all-inclusive) rates which, in addition to meals and bar drinks, cover most of the activities available to guests: tennis, squash, sailing, water skiing, scuba diving (for certified divers), snorkeling, sea kayaking, deep sea fishing, croquet, a full-service fitness center with yoga classes (spa treatments are available at an extra charge), freshwater pool and two beaches. Guests enjoy gourmet cuisine at both of Curtain Bluff’s restaurants. The open-air dining room, with a view of the ocean and the hotel’s grounds, serves breakfast and dinner (no jackets required). Lunch and refreshments are served at the Beach Club. Live bands play every evening for dining and dancing enjoyment.
The 2003/2004 season opens on October 18. Rates (FAP) start at $595 per night in fall/spring, and $850 per night in winter. Rates during the extended season – May 9 to July 24, 2004 – start at $495 per night. For reservations and more information, call 1-888-289-9898 or visit Curtain Bluff online at www.curtainbluff.com
