THE FANTASY POOL AT JOLLY BEACH RESORT, ANTIGUA

Antigua, W.I. (June 2003) -- The 8,000 sq. ft. Fantasy Pool at Jolly Beach is the crown jewel of this 40 acre property. Constructed during the resort’s $15 million renovation completed in 2001, it took nine days and 500,000 gallons of fresh water to fill what is one of the largest pools in the Caribbean. 

     There is a waterfall cascading down a series of huge stone steps splashing into the Jacuzzi and pool. The Jolly Beach gazebo sits atop the waterfall, overlooking the pool, with colorful gardens and the resort’s mile-long white sand beach just steps away.

     The free-form Fantasy Pool is home to the Splash swim-up bar, open daily from 10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Here, beach umbrellas sit atop small, almost completely submerged tables with built-in seats so you can relax and enjoy your refreshments --including Splash Bar specialties the Hummingbird, the Jolly Beach Cooler, and Romance. 

     A schedule of daily activities in the pool includes aerobics, water polo and volleyball, but because the Fantasy Pool is so large, none of these should disturb guests at the “quiet end” who just want to laze on a raft and catch some rays. 
A second, smaller, more traditional pool on the property features a shallow end suitable for kids.

     When guests aren’t in the pool, Sunfish, Hobie Cats, wind-surfers, pedal boats, kayaks and Kat Kruzers are there for the asking. Four tennis courts, two lit for night play, are presided over by a resident pro, and there's table tennis at beachside. To get in shape, the resort’s Fitness Center offers a full array of professional Cybex equipment. Guests can join a group to learn mixology or a dance step -- or to rehearse for the 'talent night' that is just one offering on a nightly menu of live entertainment. Then, there's a late-hours disco and a Cyber Center with a beach view for guests who need to connect to the Internet.

     The 462 room Jolly Beach is an all-inclusive resort; rates include accommodations, all taxes, all meals, snacks and afternoon tea, house brand beverages, non-motorized watersports, activities and entertainment. All rooms are air-conditioned and face the ocean; each has a patio or balcony, direct-dial phone, cable TV, hair-dryer and safe. All-inclusive rates start at $140 per person, per night based on double occupancy now through December 20, 2003 for a Standard room. Children 3-11 years sharing a room with two adults pay $38 per child, per night.
